Greetings HSACCC members:

Let me begin by thanking Sharon Manakas for the stellar year as President of HSACCC. As mentioned in her last communication, the list of accomplishments is impressive. Sharon leaves behind big shoes to fill. As the incoming HSACCC President, and your representative, I promise to be diligent in making progress with our established goals, and I hope for a smooth transition into 2008-2009.

Briefly, our goals include:

• Ensuring fiscal stability of the organization.
• Formalizing the operation of the Legislative and Research Committees.
• Advancing HSACCC’s role in the California Community College System and increase the organization’s visibility in the state.

• Identify barriers to full implementation of AB 982 (now chaptered into Ed Code).

After working so many years in California community college health, I continue to be impressed with our HSACCC colleagues. Everyone brings a unique perspective to the table, helping to create an organization with tremendous breadth and depth of expertise. I am humbled by the steadfastness of the student health care advocates in HSACCC and I am excited to have been given the opportunity to serve you in the capacity of President for the upcoming year.
